Common questions
Responsible Officer and revalidation, explained.
Plain answers to the questions organisations and doctors ask most.
A senior licensed doctor, appointed by a Designated Body, with statutory duties under the Responsible Officers Regulations 2010. They make revalidation recommendations to the GMC, ensure connected doctors are appraised, and monitor conduct and performance.
An organisation — a clinic, hospital or provider group — with a statutory duty to support its connected doctors through appraisal and revalidation, and to appoint a Responsible Officer.
If you employ or contract doctors, you likely have a statutory duty to appoint a Responsible Officer. Solas can review your position and either establish your Designated Body status or host your connected doctors under ours.
The process by which licensed doctors demonstrate to the GMC, normally every five years, that they remain up to date and fit to practise. It is based on annual appraisal and a recommendation from the doctor's Responsible Officer.
Every licensed doctor needs a prescribed connection to revalidate. Solas can host your connection, arrange your annual appraisal, and support your revalidation. Contact us to discuss your circumstances.
Solas works on minimum three-year service agreements, giving organisations stability across the full revalidation cycle. Pricing is provided on enquiry.
